The Story Behind the Threads

The Persian Flaw is my place to pull at loose threads — to explore ideas for myself, document what I learn, and stitch together imperfect thoughts into something worth sharing.

I’m Darius Aliabadi, an architect, developer, builder, leader.. blahdy blahdy blah. I have a simple mission, utilise my brain to solve problems and make life better & easier. I think of myself as a generalist or polymath, my philosophy is to try to learn as much from as many sources as I can.

Why did I name this site ‘thepersianflaw’? The story behind this concept reminds me of a few things I want to take forward with me. So the name is a reminder to myself.

  • Firstly, it’s that we need to remain humble while pursuing our goals. Some people might think of that as the same as ‘stay humble’ but I mean it more akin to being honest with yourself that there is more to learn and to question things, even yourself.
  • Secondly, the story behind the carpet weaving talks about not being perfect because that is for god. Now I’m not religious but I can appreciate the lesson that you shouldn’t claim to be perfect. So the reminder is to ship it, learn from it and come back to it.
  • Lastly, while I was born here and remain based out of the UK, my father’s side of the family are persian and I am deeply culturally influenced by Persians but I am not deeply connected to Iran. I cling to certain threads but I like this also as a bit of a nod to that about myself too.

This site will be my first public digital garden, I plan to discuss topics that interest me as they interest me. Don’t expect the content to be the same the next time you return, I plan to keep it live. If something does disappear then you’re welcome to contact me and ask me why.
